GEORGE (RED) EDWARD MARSH It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George (Red) Marsh, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 95 years. Dad is survived by his loving wife Irene of 72 years whom he met while serving in London with the RCAF during the Second World War; two daughters, Dawn (Gary) McLellan, Beverly (Patrick) Sinnott; and son Gary (Louise) Marsh. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred Edward and Emily; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and George Bigourdan. George (Red) was an amazing father, grandfather of eight, great-grandfather of seventeen and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness to each and everyone. His sense of humour was legendary as was the mischievous twinkle in his eye. Dad was born in the little town of Creighton Mine, Ontario on November 3, 1922. He moved to Winnipeg after the war with his new bride and then back to Sudbury, Ontario briefly, then permanently back to Winnipeg. He worked a variety of jobs over the course of his life. He was a miner, bus driver, driving instructor and finally ended his career with the Government of Manitoba in tourism making fishing films promoting our fine Province. "Fishing for a living what a great job". Dad was an absolute natural when it came to sports. He would clean your clock in pool or darts. He played hockey and baseball with the St. Vital Heart Attacks while in his 50s. Dad curled and bowled earning a small mountain of trophies. Fishing was his passion earning 11 master angler awards and especially loved the game of golf that he played right into his early 90s. A celebration of this good man's life will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Dakota House, 1145 Dakota Street from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the home care workers that cared for him for many years while he lived at Dakota House and to the staff of Grace Hospital and Victoria Hospital who cared for him during his final month.
