JOCELYN SUZANNE DREVER It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Jocelyn Suzanne Drever, January 29, 2018. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Emma Jane, her mom Jackie, brother Cam, many aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues. She was recently predeceased by her dad, Murdo James (Jim) Drever, in November. Jocelyn was born in Winnipeg September 28, 1978, and lived in Charleswood her entire life. As a young girl, she spent many summers at the lake, swimming, water skiing, and meeting some of her lifelong friends. She was involved with rhythmic gymnastics for several years, and loved her time as a cheerleader for Oak Park High School. She had a great sense of humour. She was a beautiful person who had a way of making those around her feel happy with her infectious smile and contagious laughter. Jocelyn was very compassionate, enjoyed working towards social justice, and nurturing whoever she was with. As a single parent, she decided one day she needed to go back to school as she couldn't raise her daughter in the lifestyle she was used to. She got her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Criminology and minoring in Psychology, both fields she was deeply interested in. She advanced quickly wherever she worked, the last 10 years being with Manitoba Justice. She was committed to her job, loved the people she worked with, and in her last position, served as Manager of Security Screening with the Security and Intelligence Branch. Jocelyn's biggest passion was her daughter Emma. She was teacher, parent and Best Friend. The summers would find them jumping together on the trampoline in the back yard, chillin' out in the pool, or tubing together at the lake. From Fall to Spring, Joss was "The Cheer Mom" never missing Emma's cheerleading competitions both locally and away. Joss was goofy, playful, light-hearted, silly and fun to be around. They were continually playing pranks on Papa. They had a good time together, and were often seen as sisters instead of mother and daughter. A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, may we suggest donations be made to Marymound Centre, or a charity of your choice. Bardal Funeral Home 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca

Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • Jocelyn was the first person I met when I started with MB Justice and she was kind, caring and funny. I had the privilege of working with her for a couple of months and will forever treasure the memories I have from that time. We kept in touch after she returned to her former position and we had lunch from time to time at her favorite lunch spot, soup, sandwiches and more. My heart goes out to her daughter Emma and her mother Jackie. I look forward to reflecting on all the fond memories I have of Jocelyn. - Posted by: Brian McKague (Co-worker/friend) on: Feb 17, 2018

  • Sending my deepest condolences to Jocelyn’s mom, daughter and family. We did gymnastics together many years ago and we’re friends outside the gym as well. She was a lovely person - I’m so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Lauren MacDiarmid () on: Feb 17, 2018

  • Although I had not seen Jocelyn in a few years, I was so sorry to hear about her untimely passing. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years at the lake, and made many trips from my cabin down to Royal Lake to hang out with all of our friends. She was always smiling and enjoying the summer. My thoughts and prayers are with her mom, daughter and brother at this most difficult time. - Posted by: Jodi (Friend) on: Feb 14, 2018

  • I did not know Jocelyn very well but I did have the pleasure of interacting with her when she came to Thompson for work. I will remeber her smile and very warm personality. She was humble and non-judgemental in her work tasks. She left an impression in our unit and we were saddened to hear of her passing. Condolences to her family and friends. Sincerely sent, Wanda Nicholas - Posted by: Wanda () on: Feb 07, 2018

  • I had the opportunity to work with Jocelyn in our unit a few years back. She always carried herself with grace, compassion, intellect and professionalism no matter what challenging situation she found herself having to deal with. She was warm and enthusiastic and well respected among all those who had the good fortune of crossing paths with her. Working in the same division, our paths continued to cross from time to time and she would update me on her daughter's progress in Cheerleading. Her passing at such a young age is most unfortunate as she had more to share with those who knew her and those that could have come to know her. My deepest condolences to her daughter Emma and mother, Jackie. - Posted by: Brent Apter (Past Supervisor and Co-Worker) on: Feb 06, 2018

  • I am so very sad to hear of the passing of my good childhood friend and neighbour Jocelyn. I have SO many great memories growing up with you and have shared them daily with my husband and daughters. Playing basketball, on your jungle gym, sitting on your roof and staring at the stars, and being totally jealous of your New Kids on the Block pillowcase! Riding bikes, listening to music, dreaming, your smile. I wish I had kept in better touch after graduation and moving out of province. I’ll remember you always friend.
