JOSEPH HEIMBACH
Born: May 31, 1930
Date of Passing: Jan 06, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH HEIMBACH Joseph Heimbach, 88, passed away in Winnipeg, January 6, 2018. He was born to Joseph and Elizabeth on May 31, 1930 during the Depression and prohibition. He is survived by Vivienne, his wife of 25 years, and Vera (predeceased) - the mother of his three children, Nancy, Joseph and Michael, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson; also his in-laws and great friends, Dianne Heimbach and family, Maureen and Lawrence Salter and family. A type 1 diabetic for 68 years, the only doctor he ever listened to was his brother Mike, Dr. Heimbach. He persevered through life with a strength that was an inspiration. Playing many sports, tennis, badminton, and walking long distances kept him fit. His wood-working, gardening and painting kept his hands busy. His passion was the great outdoors, fishing and long canoe trips, something that he passed on to all his children and grandchildren. A chemist by profession, he worked many years in the food and drug industry while living in Ontario, then again returning home to Winnipeg while raising his family. There wasn't a thing he couldn't fix, or a thing he wouldn't do for his children. His wonderful smile blessed those who loved him. His last words were "thank-you". While Joe insisted he not have a formal funeral service, his children will be spreading his ashes on an old family canoe route this spring, as was his final wish.

I wish to extend my condolences to the Heimbach family during this difficult time. Joe & I worked together in the Hamilton District Office of Food & Drugs after he had transferred from Belleville. Joe truly was an inspiration in that he was always busy being involved in sports, gardening & woodworking. I have many great memories of our working years together. - Posted by: Don Moore (Worked with Joe in Hamilton,Ontario) on: Feb 05, 2018
