Born: Mar 10, 1926
Date of Passing: Jan 29, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMERLE TROTMAN Peacefully, after a brief illness on January 29, 2018, our wonderful mother and grandmother, Merle, passed away. Even though dementia took away memories, she was in good humour, and always appreciative of kindnesses in her final years. Merle was predeceased by her husband Alfred in 2012 and her brothers, Cyril, Allan, and Bert. Merle is survived by son Kerry (Anne), daughters, Lynn (Randy) and Patricia (David), her sister Anne, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Merle was born March 10, 1926 in Winnipeg and grew up with fond memories of spending cottage summers in Laclu, ON. After raising her children, she worked at the YMCA office. Her favourite activities were sewing, needlework, puzzles, baking, reading, and gardening. In retirement, she enjoyed several travel trips with her husband and school chums to the USA. Her focus was always looking after us, her family. She challenged us to meet goals, and always do our best. With determination, she survived cancer at age 32, and then several further recurrences throughout her life. Retiring to Victoria in 1994 contributed to their enjoyment in life where they spent much of their days outside. Cremation will take place as requested. Thank you for the caring staff at The Heights at Mt. View, Victoria.

Dear Kerry, Ann and family, My deepest sympathy on your loss of your dear mother and grandmother. She was a courageous woman, and set her family a great example to follow. Although I am now in B.C., I follow Wpg. news, and am saddened to read about your loss. Thinking of you, Esther Weinstein. - Posted by: esther weinstein (friend) on: Feb 10, 2018
