Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELINOR THORA BAILEY (nee SIGVALDASON) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elinor Thora Bailey. After a courageous battle, in St. Boniface Hospital, Elinor passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side, on February 3, 2018. Born November 12, 1935, Elinor was the youngest of three children (brother Eric and sister Margaret), born to Robina McKenzie (Ainslie) and Eric Thor Sigvaldason in Winnipeg. Elinor will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles (Milt) Milton; her three children Brenda, Brian and Brent (Andrea), son-in-law Bill; grand-children Bob, Bonnie (Ron) and Blair (Alexandra); and great-grandchildren Kayla and Blake. Elinor was an accomplished pianist, graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto with First Class Honours, and taught piano for many years. Her love of teaching was evident, and so, after raising her three children, Elinor returned to school. She graduated from The University of Manitoba in 1979 with a BA and then continued on to earn her BE in 1982. Combining her love of children and her sincere desire to help improve the lives of others, she gained rewarding employment with Winnipeg School Division 1, teaching visually challenged students. She proudly devoted her time and energy into her students, marking this as one of the most satisfying periods of her life. Upon retirement, Elinor and Milt moved to Chilliwack, BC for a decade. Her desire to teach drew her back into education and she couldn't resist becoming a substitute educator. However, the lure of Winnipeg and her desire to be near her growing grandchildren proved to be too much and they were soon back living in Manitoba. Elinor enjoyed her retirement years by spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and filled many hours with her passion for crafting and enjoying the bird feeders in her beautiful yard. Loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandma and amma, you will be greatly missed. Although our hearts are filled with sadness and grief at your passing, you will always be remembered with beautiful, loving memories and reside in our hearts. A proud member of The United Church, Elinor embodied her favourite saying, "kindness matters". The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their tremendous care, effort, compassion and support. It is truly appreciated. At Elinor's request, there will be no service held.

Dear Milt and family Our deepest and most sincere condolences in the recent passing of your dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Elinor. For several years, I had the pleasure of having Elinor on my team as a low-vision consultant with Winnipeg School Division #1. She was always ready, willing and able to take on our most challenging cases. We enjoyed our time with her in school, at the store, and in Pinawa. We will all miss her. May fond and precious memories of Elinor remain in your hearts and minds forever. Frank and Carol Favoni - Posted by: Frank and Carol Favoni (Colleague and friend) on: Feb 15, 2018

So sorry to hear of Elinor’s passing. She was such a wonderful woman with a big heart. She would do anything to help others and never asking for anything in return. Her suffering is over and she is now at peace. My thoughts are with the family. - Posted by: Gary Oko (Family friend ) on: Feb 10, 2018
