Date of Passing: Feb 05, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDURETA VINATIERI (PRUDEN) Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Dureta passed away on February 5, 2018 at the age of 67. Dureta was predeceased by her father, Lloyd Pruden. She is survived by her mother, Divina, twin sister Desta (Frank), sister Teresa, brothers Garry (Trea), Wayne (Kim), many nieces and nephews, and long time friend Diane Mariash (Reimer). Dureta was born in Red Lake, Ontario on January 16, 1951 where she enjoyed many summer vacations in her youth with the family at Rahill Beach. She lived in Winnipeg until she was old enough to travel, then was off to Vancouver where she thoroughly enjoyed working for Hy's restaurant and The Pan Pacific in the hospitality industry. After marrying, she moved to San Francisco, then joined her brothers in Benecia, California where she enjoyed playful times with her nephew Lloyd while watching him grow up. She later moved to Fallon, Nevada where she spent time volunteering for her church and walking her dog Chato. Dureta moved back home to Winnipeg almost two years ago and reunited with her family and friends who were here to support her with her courageous battle with cancer. Dureta was a people person, everyone loved her, she had a smile for everyone who crossed her path and made fast friends with just about anyone. We will miss Dureta immensely and take with us many memories of time spent with her. A private family celebration of Dureta's life has been held. We would like to thank Dr. Gingrich from CancerCare, including Dr. Clendenin and Dr. Samarasena from Access, along with all the staff at Concordia Hospital who assisted Dureta.

Dureta was a special light who shined love on everyone she met. I treasure every moment we shared together. She was a very special friend. I will miss her laugh and joie de vivre. - Posted by: Dee McCullagh (Friend) on: Aug 14, 2018

Desta, I was shocked to read of Dureta's passing. It doesn't seem fair that one so young could be cut down so early. Although I only met Dureta once, I thought of her, your siblings and parents every time I drive by Bronx Park. If I recall that was your old stomping ground. (I often bake the "Davina chicken" recipe, she gave me years ago, it is the best). I'm sending you a virtual hug to be shared by all family members. I hope to touch base with you soon.
