Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySUSAN SHERWOOD May 10, 1919 - February 7, 2018 Peacefully at home with her loving daughter, Susan Sherwood passed away at the age of 97. She was the eldest daughter born to Suzanne and David Penner on May 10, 1919. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence of 66 years (2006); Mother (1994); Father (1970); daughter Edith (1942); brothers: Tony (2001), Dave (1969), Henry, Bill and Diedrich (1921); and sisters: Nettie (1931), Lena (1929), and Sara (1923). She leaves to honour her memory, two daughters: Wilma (Frank) and Shirley; one son, Donald; grandchildren, Yale (Eileen), Dawn, and Penny; Rachael (Chris); and Leslie and David; great-grandchildren: Chad, Anika, Brent, Stephen, David, Tyler, and Daniel; Justin, Nathaniel, and Amanda; Erin and Avery; Trinity, Mercy, Serenity, and Ezekiel; and Samantha, Julius, and Damien; brothers: Pete (Elvina), Richard (Muriel), and Edward; sisters: Helen and Elma (Cam); many nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. She grew up in southeastern Manitoba, in the areas of Haskett and Plum Coulee. She remained at home on the farmstead where she attended school and also worked out for several families as a live-in housekeeper, until the age of 19. In 1938, she relocated to Winnipeg and shared a rooming house suite with a friend. Soon after, she was introduced to my father. They fell in love and married in 1940. Mum and Dad relocated to Princeton, Ontario where they enjoyed a life of farming for about the first five years of their married life. This turned out to be a very prosperous undertaking for them as they shared in all the benefits of the family business. In time however, they left the farm and relocated to Paris, Ontario where Dad built a lovely family home and Mum remained at home to care for her family, the life she has really enjoyed. By 1959 they had three growing children, all was well with the family, and they thought now would be a good time to move westward to Winnipeg, Manitoba to spend some quality years with Mum's family and friends. In 1963, Dad bought a small farm in East Selkirk, Manitoba and this became the family home for many wonderful years. Some 15 or so years later, they relocated back to Winnipeg and made 468 Riverton Avenue their retirement home and final place of resting and sharing together. YES, as a family we did, we really loved and appreciated our dear MOTHER, and she has left us with a legacy that we will always cherish and take with us as we live out our lives in honour of her. But the greatest legacy that Mum leaves for all of us was her faithfulness to the House of God, her life of prayer and the importance she attributed to reading and knowing GOD'S WORD. May it truly be acclaimed: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 11 Timothy 4:17 Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 10:00 a.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel.

To the family of Susan Sherwood, especially Shirley and Rachael, of whom we had the pleasure of knowing them. Your mother and grandmother was always so good, unselfish, loving and kind, few on this earth her equal you'll find. Honourable and upright in all her ways, loyal and true to the end of her days. Gone from this world so full of strife, back to the God who gave her life. Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of your mother and grandmother. May time bring you peace, grace bring you healing and love bring you comfort through this your most difficult time. Our prayers will be with you in this time of healing.
