BEVERLEY JEAN MACKENZIE (nee PORTER) April 20, 1940 - February 1, 2018 With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Beverley MacKenzie at Health Sciences Centre MICU, at the age of 77. Beverley (Bev) leaves to mourn her four children, R.J. (Ruth), Susan (Don), Wendy and Laurie (Abbie) along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her only cousin Laraine, brother-in-law Jack, sisters-in-law, Barb and Marion, along with three nephews and one niece. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Sarah Porter (nee Keats), birth mother Ida, three brothers, and her loving husband Bob MacKenzie. Beverley Jean Porter was born and raised in Dauphin, Manitoba. It was there she met Bob MacKenzie and the two married in 1962. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage before Bob passed away in 2010. Bev loved curling and was a curler, fan, coach, official and Lifetime Member of the MCA. She worked part-time, in Dauphin, but primarily stayed home to raise the family. Bev was community minded and was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal for her community service, in 2002. In 2011, Bev moved to Winnipeg and became an active member of Harrow United Church. A cancer survivor, she also volunteered at the Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope and was a board member at her condominium. Above all, Bev loved her family and looked forward to getting them all together as often as possible. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of MICU for their professionalism and thoughtfulness. A special thank you to Dr. Debrah Wirtzfeld who has been a blessing in our mom's life; we cannot thank her enough. A celebration of her life was held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Dauphin First United Church in Dauphin, MB with Ilene Dowd officiating. A private family interment took place on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in Riverside Cemetery, Dauphin, MB. Pallbearers were Quinn MacKenzie, Ben MacKenzie, Alex MacKenzie, Cameron Pike, Bayn Solomon, and Gabriel Mercier. A candlelight memorial service will take place on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Avenue Winnipeg, MB with Teresa Moysey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope or Harrow United Church. Sneath-Strilchuk -Dauphin Chapel 204-638-4110 www.sneathstrilchuk.com
