LAURI ANTERO LINDBLAD March 4, 1928 - February 7, 2018 Lauri was born in Joutseno, Finland. He was the youngest of four children raised in Imatra, Finland. Lauri immigrated to Canada on his own as a young man. Though his first job was in Prince Albert, SK, Lauri settled in Winnipeg where he met and married Margarete Machel. They had two children. Lauri worked for D. Cohn and TransCanada furrier for 35 years. When he retired, Lauri and Margie moved to Denson Place near Polo Park. After Margie moved into Lions Personal Care, Lauri remained in the house. A year after his stroke, Lauri joined Margie. Lauri was predeceased by his parents, Tahvo and Maria, brother Eero, sisters, Annukka and Sirka, brother-in-law Urpo, sister-in-law Mailla and his wife Margie. He is survived by his son Antero, daughter Wendy, grandchildren, Jennifer, Sean and Jason Majury, great-grandchildren, Wyatt Ellis, Riley Kasprick, Alexis MaJury and Katelyn Pauls-Majury. He is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Harley and Ellie Anderson, brother and sister-in-law Eric and Ruth Machel, and sister-in-law Mardie Zech along with many nephews and nieces in Canada and Finland. LAURI ANTERO LINDBLAD Lauri Lindblad passed away on February 7, 2018 in Winnipeg. Lauri was born in Finland and came to Canada as a young adult. He met and married Margaret Machel. Lauri was predeceased by his parents, brother, sisters and his wife. He is survived by his son Antero, daughter Wendy, grandchildren Jennifer, Sean and Jason, and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Alexis, Katelyn and Riley. Funeral will take place Friday, February 16 at 10:00 a.m., at Bardal Funeral Home on Sherbrook, followed by burial at Chapel Lawn on Portage.
