ANDREW (ANDY) BLAZEJ MAZOR Andrew (Andy) Blazej Mazor, son of John and Mary Mazor, was born in Winnipeg, Canada on September 9, 1932. He passed away in Laguna Hills, California on February 3, 2018 at the age of 85. Andy's parents immigrated to Canada from Slovakia, and he grew up in the Winnipeg Salvage Yard that his father managed. His first language was Slovak, and he did not learn English until he entered Kindergarten. He kept strong ties to his relatives in Slovakia, visiting several times (once with his three children) and sending 30 plus Christmas cards there each year. Before immigrating with his parents to California in 1958, Andy graduated from Manitoba Law School. Andy worked for, and retired from, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (Flood Control) at age 55 (enjoying 30 years of retirement) and attended yearly co-worker reunions up until his death. He was a devout Catholic and an enthusiastic Notre Dame fan. He golfed until he was 83 and lived on a golf course in Paso Robles for 15 years, prior to moving to Laguna Woods with his wife in 2017. He also enjoyed Angel's baseball. Andy is survived, and will be missed by, Marilyn Mazor (wife); Andrea Lumley (daughter) and Craig Williams (daughter's fiancée); Drew Blazej Schilder (son) and Donna Schilder (daughter-in-law); and Darrin Mazor (son). He was preceded in death by his brother John Mazor and son Eric Mazor. Andy was a generous and devoted father, who picked just the right Hallmark card for every holiday and birthday.
