LEO BERARD
Born: Jan 05, 1950
Date of Passing: Feb 01, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEO BERARD January 5, 1950 - February 1, 2018 It is with heavy hearts and sadness we said goodbye to Leo on Thursday, February 1, 2018. Leo passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 68. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers. He will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife Joanne (Wyville), son Keith (Rhonda), and the light of his life his grandson Parker; as well as his siblings and their families; his spouse's immediate and extended family, and his loyal pet Dakota. Leo will always be remembered as a dedicated, kind, hard-working, genuine, big hearted, proud man. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, son-in-law, brother-in-law, cousin and friend. All who knew him sadly misses him. Leo was the eldest child out of 12 children. He was born in Altona, Manitoba. The family moved around living in various places such as Transcona and St. Norbert. They eventually settled in St. Adolphe, where he grew up on the farm. He met his life partner Joanne when working at F & M Tomboy grocery store. He married Joanne September 16, 1972 and recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary September 2017. Leo worked in the power sports industry for over 40 years, starting at Rond's Marine followed by Dufort Distributors, Marr's Leisure Products and finally his career with Arctic Cat for over 20 years. Leo bled green. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage at Lee River, Lac Du Bonnet. You could always find him there "tinkering" or working on a project outside. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of the Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and compassionate care during this difficult time. As per Leo's wishes there will be no funeral service. Instead cremation has taken place and there will be a private family gathering at a later date. He gave us his love and blessed us with memories to hold in our hearts. Leo, there won't be a day that will go by when we won't think about you and miss you. Your pain has been lifted. You are at peace now. You will never be alone. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leo's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1 or a charity or organization of your choice.

In a family of 12, Leo was the oldest, I was the youngest. He wasn't only my brother, but my father figure. I respected and loved him so much. As we grew older the less we saw of each other but when we did? I always felt his love for me. Joanne and Keith, my love and thoughts are with you. We may have grown apart but he was never far from my thoughts and heart. I didn't just lose a brother but a second dad as well... - Posted by: Renee McIvor (Sister ) on: Jun 09, 2018
