GORDON CHARLES LE GRAND May 13, 1923 - February 14, 2018 Gordon Le Grand passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was predeceased by Patricia, his wife of 70 years. He is survived by his children, Sharon (Lorne), Gail (Larry), Roger (Susan), and Colin (Alice), 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Gordon was born and raised in Winnipeg. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War. He served in Britain, Europe and North Africa. While overseas he met a young English girl in a small seaside town. They were married in England after the war and raised a family of four in Winnipeg. Following the war, Gordon was employed by Winnipeg Paint and Glass, Muttart Lumber and spent most of his career as a flooring installer for the Winnipeg School Division. He took pride in always doing a quality job in all he did. Gordon loved to fish and was a proud cottage owner in the Whiteshell for over 50 years. There was always a project on the go at the Lake. Gordon was an excellent baker and weekly pies and butter tarts were always guaranteed. Dad demonstrated for us that hard work and honesty were the way to success and happiness. He took great pride and much joy in visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, getting caught up in whatever they were doing. The family would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre on T3 West for their care and compassion. Mum and Dad are now together again. A family service has been held. No longer in our lives to share, But in our hearts you're always there... A donation may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or charity of choice. Arrangements by Cropo Funeral Chapel.
