Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN MAVIS ST. MARS (nee HUMPHREY) August 9, 1927 - February 14, 2018 It is with deep regret that the family announces the passing of their much loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the Victoria Hospital. Jean is survived by her three children: son Robert St. Mars, daughters, Barbara (Greg) Coss, and Patricia Wiebe (Patrick Ray); grandchildren: Joe, Angela (Jesse), Philip (Stephanie), Julianne (T.J.) and Laura (Tyler); and one great-grandchild Robbie. She is also survived by her sister Cynthia (Don) Croucher of Mission Viejo, California and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Grace, husband Robert (Bob) St. Mars, sister Dorothy Taggart of Ottawa and brother Basil Humphrey of Thunder Bay. Jean attended Windsor and Kelvin Schools and later trained as a lab technician and worked briefly with the Red Cross prior to marrying Bob in September of 1950. From that point on, family was the focus of Mom's life. She enjoyed many years of family fun at the Winnipeg Winter Club (she was an excellent skater) and at the Lake of the Woods cottage. Upon Bob's retirement, the family travelled in Europe and settled in Aix en Provence, France during 1972 to 1973. The family returned to residences in Winnipeg and Keewatin, ON, until 1978 when Jean, Bob and Patti spent winters in Mesa, Arizona. In 1984, Bob and Jean resettled in Winnipeg. Upon Bob's death in 1997, Mom lived independently enjoying family and bridge until moving to Riverwood Square in 2013. Family get-togethers, lunches at McNalley, and activities at her residence kept Mom busy these last few years. Mom's sense of humour and positive attitude helped her throughout her life. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverwood Square and the Victoria Hospital for the care she received. As per Jean's wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no memorial service.
