JOYCE MAY DAWES (nee CHANNER) Sunrise: November 7, 1932 Sunset: February 11, 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Joyce May Dawes (nee Channer), on February 11, 2018, at the St. Boniface Hospital, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her parents Florence and Stanford Channer, brothers David, Hector and Clinton, and sister Pearl Robinson (nee Channer). She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 55 years, Claudius Dawes, children Barrington (Pamela), Dennis (Tamara), Everton, Delroy (Barbara), Marcia, Patrick, Wayne and Jacqueline, and siblings Lionel Channer and Salome O'Gilvie. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews living throughout Canada, United States, Jamaica and England. Joyce was born on November 7, 1932 in Albion, Jamaica where she spent most of her childhood. She immigrated to London in 1961 where she met and married Claudius Dawes. They moved to Canada in 1968 where they raised their family, and she enjoyed a lengthy, 30 year career in healthcare at the Health Sciences Centre until she retired. The celebration of Joyce's life will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Public Viewing February 23, 2018, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
