GEORGE EDWARD CHUDLEY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, George Edward Chudley. Dad lost his long battle with cancer on February 2, 2018 at Riverview Health Centre. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Hazel; and brother Norman (Ernie). He is survived by his children, Cindy (Al), Karen (Mike), Rob (Jenn); grandchildren, Matthew and Kaitlyn; sister Pat (Stan). Dad was born in Winnipeg on September 19, 1932. Growing up he enjoyed swimming and skating and became a competitive speed skater. He continued his love of swimming as a swim instructor for the City of Winnipeg. Dad worked for CBC as a stage director/film editor for over 30 years. Dad enjoyed making and fixing things around the house and helped to build the family cottage at Lake of the Woods. Dad enjoyed socializing and during retirement enjoyed volunteering at the Winnipeg Airport as a Gold Wing. He was part of the St. James Seniors Centre where he served as president and enjoyed playing scrabble. He was also a member of the Herb Society of Manitoba where he found joy in gardening. He will be missed by the many people he has met throughout the years. We will be holding a Celebration of Life gathering on February 22 at St. James Seniors Centre, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. We would like to thank everyone with Home Care, Grace Hospital and Riverview for the excellent care they provided. In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to the Riverview Health Centre.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I was very sorry and sad to hear of the passing of your dad. I have known Ted since 2003 - when I started preparing his income taxes. Even though it was just a couple of times a year we got together - we had very long chats and visits about family and life in general. Sending my deepest sympathies. - Posted by: Judy Thevenot (friend) on: Apr 15, 2018

  • I sure miss talking to Ted - his words of wisdom and advice. My four kids thought Ted was the best neighbour and friend. His daughter, Cindy, babysat our girls after we moved in, next door to the south, at 431 Lindsay Street, in June, 1991. Ted always was generous by letting me pick all his apples to make applesauce for the kids. One time, my freezer blew and Ted let me put all my meat in his larger freezer; he carried all the meat into his freezer!!! Ted was very organized, especially his freezer - lol. Ted would talk about his CBC days and his volunteer work at the Senior Centre. Filomena - Posted by: Filomena and Bruce Donaldson (next door neighbour, friend ) on: Feb 23, 2018

  • Ted was a first class guy. I am so sorry to see him pass away.We were very close to each other. I saw him or phoned him every week and sometimes every day. We worked together on projects at his home, especially on his computer. I helped him sell several items from his garage. We worked at the CBC at the same time. Our offices were next to each other. We attended meetings together at the Lions home every Friday. I wish his soul the best and the Lord takes good care of him. - Posted by: Frank Stroppa (co-worker at CBC) on: Feb 18, 2018

  • How sorry I was to learn of Ted's passing. I met Ted when I joined CBC in 1972, and worked with him on many progams and newscasts. He talked so much about his children that I felt I knew them all; he was very very proud of them.....my deepest sympathy.....
