DAVID CHARLES DEANE
Born: Jun 09, 1952
Date of Passing: Feb 20, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID CHARLES DEANE June 9, 1952 - February 20, 2018 It is with much sadness in our hearts that we announce the death of David, beloved husband, stepfather, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend, who passed away surrounded by family, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Much love was bestowed on him as he passed peacefully into heaven after a brief illness. The suddenness of this tragic event caused deep shock and despair. Left to cherish David's memory are his wife Leslie; daughter Larissa; son-in-law Casey; grandson Zavyé; sister Lesley; brother Graham; sister-in-law Angela; brother-in-law Mark; nieces, Lori (Bernie), Barb (Dave), Susan, Karen and Amanda (Alex); nephews, Alastair (Kate) and Simon (Natalie), as well as numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. David often stated how fortunate he was to meet the love of his life, Leslie, 35 years ago while he was working as an accountant at Grace Hospital. He affectionately called her "the bride" over all their 23 years of marriage. Their wedding took place in a Vickers Viscount aircraft at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, one of the first ceremonies of its kind. It was a fitting venue given David's family of pilots, including himself in his youth. David enjoyed sports and grew up playing football. In adulthood, he loved to golf with his buddies. He was also a car enthusiast and could tell you the make, model and year of any vehicle he saw. For many years David was devoted to his Border Collie, Tar Knows, often taking him to stock dog trials in Canada and the United States. We will greatly miss David's larger than life personality and fun sense of humour, but most of all his huge heart. Family and friends were fortunate enough to experience David's tremendous thoughtfulness and caring. An early retirement 13 years ago, due to health, allowed David to focus even more on his family, whom he loved dearly. "The Pickle" Larissa will always cherish all of the funny sayings, practical advice, big hugs and generosity she received from him. David was an awesome father-in-law to Casey and a loving DD to Zavyé. A celebration of David's life will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3. Dear Leslie and family, my heart breaks for you, I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. I had the good fortune to have worked with David a number of years ago. I will always remember him fondly, his sense of humour, the skip in his step, big smiles and zest for life. Please know that I am thinking of you and praying that you will find strength & peace. David embraced me as a friend at our first introduction simply because I was a friend of his "bride" Leslie. He opened his heart and his home to both Jan and I, friends from Ontario when we visited Winnipeg. He was always upbeat, happy, funny, kind and considerate. He nicknamed me "spitfire", a name I will always cherish. I thought David would be here with us forever after he defied death two previous times. He was one tough cookie who loved life. I always loved my uncle Dave. I remember one time as a joke he bought a box of sausages for my birthday haha (I was 10). He had a great sense of humour, and him and my dad had the greatest brother bond. We will miss him so much, and he will forever be in our hearts. - Posted by: Susan Deane (Neice) on: Feb 24, 2018

“Hey Darlin” was David’s greeting in person or in the background while Leslie & I were on the phone chatting away. He was usually refilling her wine, such a great guy, always taking care of us. Will miss those bear hugs when I arrived in Winnipeg. - Posted by: Jan slywchuj (Best of friends) on: Feb 24, 2018
