Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDEREK JOHN HICKS May 6, 1930 - February 15, 2018 Derek Hicks passed away peacefully at Oakview Place on February 15, 2018 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife, two children and five grandchildren. Derek was born in Willesden, England and immigrated with his family to Gander, Newfoundland in 1963 to work for Eastern Provincial Airlines and then to Winnipeg in 1971 to work for Transair (the golden jets), and later Pacific Western Airlines (PWA). Derek was an engineer who worked in the airline industry for most of his life and loved his work. He resigned from PWA and worked as a consultant assisting airlines in South America and other countries around the world. He took our family all over the world, including visits to our family in England and Ireland every year while we were growing up. We thank Dad's sister, nieces, and nephew for their support. We would also like to thank the kind staff at Oakview Place (3rd floor). Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Derek's wishes, there will be no funeral. Dad - you are my rock and I will miss you always. Love you forever!
