Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKAREN LYNN DIACZUN Peacefully, at home in the early hours of Wednesday, February 21, 2018, Karen completed her earthly journey at the age of 65. While friends and family mourn her sudden passing, there is comfort in the assurance that her spirit now rests in a place free of pain and sorrow. Karen was born on March 15, 1952. She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Walter and is survived by sisters Pamela and Beverly, as well as numerous cousins and nieces. Karen spent the remaining 26 years of her life as a resident of the Radmon House Apartments in East Kildonan. Ultimately, the lasting measure of one's life is not necessarily evident by personal achievement, but rather through examination of character. Possessing a keen intellect and inquisitive by nature, she was a voracious reader; biographies and documentaries were of particular interest. Karen enjoyed crafts in general, excelling in periodic endeavours of needlepoint and crochet work; she was always cognizant of the beauty of nature and the splendor of creation itself. And oh yes, Karen professed an life long affinity for felines. Karen was a truly unforgettable woman, a beautiful soul who demonstrated remarkable resolve and perseverance daily, in the face of a formidable disability which challenged her for most of her adult life. Eventually her world became rather small in some respects; her "window" to the outside world lay not in the limited view from her apartment but through cerebral stimulation afforded by literature and the Internet. Such resources nourished her mind in the midst of ongoing pain issues. Time and again while concerned with the well being of others, she chose to deny herself; instead, giving generously to someone in need, from a loving and compassionate heart. Out of poverty she shared from her meager resources for the benefit of others; she was truly rich in spirit. In return she asked for little more than to be loved, valued and respected. The realization of fairness would be reserved for the afterlife. Sincere gratitude and appreciation is in order, to the caregivers and health care providers who brought comfort to Karen in the latter stages of life. A memorial celebration of her life will occur at a later date. Cremation has taken place. "There are no goodbyes for us, where ever you are, you will always be in my heart. Farewell to you and to the youth I have spent with you, it was yesterday that we met in a dream."
