HUGH ALFRED GODDARD May 21, 1949 - March 1, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Hugh Goddard, at the age of 68, at Pinawa Hospital on March 1, 2018. Hugh is survived by his loving wife Annette (nee Martel) Goddard, his two sons Chris (Tina) and Ken (Candace); two daughters, Nicole (Deron) and Jeannine (Steven); 10 grandchildren, Amber (Cam), Ally, Travis, Tyler, Corbin, Riley, Spencer, Hayden, Lily and Violet; one great-granddaughter Holly; mother Ethel, and sisters, Sharon and Patricia (Percy). He was predeceased by his father Alfred, baby brother Alan, and brother-in-law Stan. Over the course of his entire career, Hugh was most proud of his seven years as an Air Frame Technician for the Royal Canadian Air Force. He went on to work for the City of Winnipeg and retired with Manitoba Hydro at the age of 53. Throughout his career as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic he had been known to boast on occasion, "You know...not too many people could say that they have worked on planes, trains AND automobiles". He had a sharp mind and was able to design, build and repair virtually anything. You could always find him tinkering on a project in his garage, or just visiting with a friend by the wood stove. Hugh was a devoted life-long member of Agassiz Outdoorsmen and always thought of his fellow members as his extended family. Hugh was very passionate about the outdoors; he truly loved fishing, snowmobiling, boating, canoeing, quading and hunting. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Bruneau and all Cancer Care staff at the Pinawa Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care during his lengthy battle with cancer. Please join our family for a Celebration of Life in his honour on Saturday, March 10, 2:00 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion in Lac du Bonnet (McArthur Avenue). In lieu of flowers, and per Hugh's personal request, we respectfully ask that donations be made in Hugh's memory to the Royal Canadian Legion in Lac du Bonnet.
