Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXIS KAIN (nee MENDEZ) March 1, 1989 - March 2, 2018 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alexis Kain (nee Mendez), at the age of 29 years old. Alexis will be forever missed by her loving husband Brandon, parents Ed and Elisa Mendez, sister Susie Castillo (Andrew), brother Edwin Mendez, grandmother Amalia Castillo, uncle Manuel Castillo, cousin Juan Pablo Castillo, parents-in-law Jeff and Theresia Kain, sisters-in-law Danielle and Chantel, nephew Jaxon Kain, and numerous other cousins, relatives, and friends. Alexis was born on March 1, 1989, in Los Angeles, California, and moved to Winnipeg in June 1990. Alexis was a free spirit who loved life. She was not only beautiful inside and out, but also smart and driven. Alexis studied to become an esthetician, where she applied her skills to help others look and feel their best and express her own creativity. Whether it was through her big smile, her wit, or her dry sense of humor, Alexis always had an ability to make others smile. Alexis was equally dedicated to her family, friends and faith. She proudly devoted her time to her congregation, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with family, even if it wasn't her own. In 2015, Alexis traveled overseas to work as an au pair, where she had the opportunity to combine her love for children with her sincere desire to help others. Loving wife, daughter, sister, grandaughter, niece, cousin, and friend, you will be greatly missed. Although our hearts are filled with sadness and grief at your passing, you will always be remembered with loving memories and forever remain in our hearts. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you, I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 227 Lakewood Blvd., in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a GoFundMe campaign established in Alexis' honor (https://www.gofundme.com/z22km-love-for-alexis). Rest in Peace Alexis. We love you, and we will see you soon.

To my dear Friends Edwin and Lupita. Today you and and close love ones will gather to celebrate the life of your precious daughter Alexis. Although far away, I too, will remember her and pray to our Heavenly Father Jehovah, for all of you to be strengthen and comforted by his resurrection promise. My love to you both, Susie & Andrew, Ed Jr, Esperanza, and of course Brandon who I haven't met, but I feel for his unimaginable pain. - Posted by: Marlene (Friend) on: Mar 10, 2018

Although I've only had the pleasure of knowing and working with Alexis for a short 3 years, I'm so fortunate to have had the opportunity. She carried a vibrant aura that always brought out the best in everyone. Going to work and seeing her big smile would instantly brighten your day. Her generosity, humility and dry sense of humour were only a few of her many attributes. Thank you for attempting to teach me Spanish, for always being yourself and for all of the laughs we've been able to share. Forever in our hearts. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Chad Gonsalves (Friend) on: Mar 09, 2018

I’ve known Alexis since elementary school, we lived down the street from each other. I’ve always known her to be the nicest, funniest and most caring person. We worked at Glendale Golf Course together for a few years. Whenever we worked together we always had a blast. All we did was joke around and laugh together. She brought out the best in me. I really valued our friendship, even though after we had quit we lost touch a bit. But every time we saw each other it’s like time never passed. We were supposed to get together a few months ago, to get our dogs together for a play date but we were both very busy. I wish I would have made a better effort to see you because I was thinking about you a few days before you passed and how much I missed you. My condolences to Alexis’ family. - Posted by: Whitney Olinyk (Friend ) on: Mar 06, 2018
