Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKELLY MAUD MCKAY (nee MONIAS) March 9, 1946 - March 6, 2018 On the evening of March 6, 2018, Kelly quietly passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. She is survived by her husband Wallace (Wally) McKay, daughter Shawenne Sheryl Lisa McKay, sons Ronald Francis Monias and Waban Trevor McKay. She also leaves behind Tamar Chubb (Ron) and Linda Kitchikeesick (Garry) and her daughters Tanya, Delaney and McKenzie. She leaves behind immediate grandchildren, Wendy, Winston, Toby, Kerra, Candace, Karena, Joshua and Misquanneequan Monias. She also leaves eight beautiful great -grandchildren. She will be missed by her sister Rosalie and her husband Arnold Ouskan; her nieces, Gerilyn, Daria and Shayna and their families. She also leaves behind stepson Marvin MacPherson of Garden Hill and stepdaughter Geraldine Wood of St Theresa Point, MB along with their children and grandchildren. She will be missed by her numerous cousins and extended family from Garden Hill, St. Theresa Point First Nations and Sachigo Lake. She was predeceased by her mother Margaret Monias, her son Gary Todd Monias and her brother Stanley Monias. Kelly, a loving parent and grandparent and wife, lived a full life. She had recently retired from working with Windigo First Nation Council in Sioux Lookout. After raising her children she went to pursue her education graduating with honours in Business Administration. She further spent two years at University of Winnipeg pursuing a Commerce Degree. Her enthusiasm, friendly outlook and her radiant smile were contagious to people she came in contact with. At age five she was taken from parents to attend residential school and she never allowed those painful experiences to deter her from living a fulsome life. She was a woman full of grace and dignity and always exuded care for others. Throughout the years she supported her husband as they both worked tirelessly to make the difference in the lives of First Nations people. A celebration of Kelly's life will be held at First Nations Alliance Church at 44 Kentler Street at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 9. Viewing on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to be officiated by Pastor Howard Jolly.
