SARAH TILLIE NELSON
Born: Apr 01, 1932
Date of Passing: Mar 01, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySARAH TILLIE NELSON April 1, 1932 - March 1, 2018 On March 1, 2018, Sarah passed away surrounded by the enduring love of her children. Sarah was predeceased by her mother, Mary when she was 12 years old and she became the matriarch of her family, a role she kept until her passing. Also predeceased by her youngest daughter Madge, her granddaughter Celene, grandson Benjamin, great-grandtwins, Charlie August and Charlie Day, son-in-law Steve, father Lexie Taylor, brother Richard, sister Georgina, brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Win Wallis. Sarah will be remembered by her children, Lillian, Edith (Bob), Linda (Tom), Wilma (Dave), Pat (Bernie) of Bellevue, Nebraska, her favourite #1 son Bill (Olivia) of Blackfalds, Alberta, Elin (Dale), Charlene, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, her surviving sisters, Dorothy, Edith, Alice, Lillian and Mary. Sarah lived for those she loved and she fiercely loved her family. All of her children were her favourite; she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The consummate homemaker, her specialties were cabbage rolls and pies (there was always an abundance of pies to ensure everyone's favourite was served). Mom didn't have a lot but she took great pleasure in sending you with a care package when you left her home. We all knew her love for us was unconditional and had no boundaries, but it didn't stop there. Her door was open to our friends and they were all welcome at the dinner table (or breakfast). Many had extended stays at Sarah's place. Sarah loved Country and Western music and we grew up listening to the legends. Her favourite pastime was Bingo and you never called on a Saturday evening between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. as this was Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo time. Sarah was a beauty, both inside and out, she was well groomed and admired for her thick, always styled hair. She always had a twinkle in her eye and her quick wit could always make us laugh. Cremation has taken place and we will celebrate Sarah's life on Sunday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Lions Personal Care Centre, 320 Sherbrook Street. The family will inter her ashes with her daughter Madge at a private service. The family would like to say thank you to the staff at Lions for their care of Sarah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sarah's honour to Siloam Mission.

I'm so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I remember her as a kind and caring person. I remember her sense of humour, her pies and she made the best meatballs. You always felt welcome in her home. - Posted by: Monica (Friend of Edith) on: Mar 15, 2018

My sincere condolences to the family, I thought of Sarah every now and again as she was a huge part of my adolescent years, she opened her home to me and gave me guidance when she thought necessary. I did have the privilege of visiting her a few years back, we talked about the past and present and I believe it was a good visit. To the family, Sarah will never be forgotten and will hold a dear place in my heart, as with Madge. - Posted by: Kathy Rosmus (Friend of the late Madge Nelson) on: Mar 12, 2018
