SOPHIE RIEU (BABA)
Date of Passing: Mar 02, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIE RIEU (BABA) In loving memory It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sophie Irene Rieu (nee Sheppit) on March 2, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was 96 years of age. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Gail (aka Gaynia) and Wendee (Mary), her granddaughter Nadine (Lorne and Tess), and grandsons Doug (Cheryl and Sydney), Trevor (Treva and Jennifer) and Todd (Christa, Alyssa and Sierra), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Norman, and her daughter Lynda Slatnik. Sophie and Norm spent their married life in Charleswood where they raised their family. Sophie's proudest accomplishment was owning and operating Rieu's Catering for a span of 25 years. Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held. We want to thank the staff of West Park Manor for their great care where Sophie spent her final years. If friends so desire, a donation in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Sophie will be forever missed and never forgotten. "Love you Baba"

Wendy and Gail: I am sorry to learn of the passing of your Mom... Auntie Chic. She was always so welcoming and accepting of guests and drop in visitors. She certainly had a way of making all feel welcome, special and appreciated. I know that those attributes have carried on in the two of You. Please accept our condolences at this time for your loss and our prayers for peace are with you at this time. Blair and Vicki - Posted by: Blair Sonnichsen (Friend) on: Apr 02, 2018

Wendy and Gail I am so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. Such a loss. Your mom always seemed to love having a house full of us over. I remember working with you Wendy and your Mom at the temple once!. What a job! My condolemces to both of you and your families at this sad time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I feel your pain right now as I just lost my mom in October. Wishing you peace and comfort in the days to come. Dear Wendee & family; so sad to hear of your mom’s passing. She was such a caring and loving person and I am fortunate to have some great memories of her. I still have the dollar bill she gave me on my 17th birthday with the inscription “to spend when you are broke!” May your many wonderful memories of her help you through this period of sadness. To Wendee and Gail, I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was always so nice and welcoming to me, not to mention patient when I "worked" at the kitchen and never did master carrying a single cup of coffee without shaking and spilling it. I know that you have a lifetime of great memories of your mom to help ease the pain. Most sincerely, Mo Meronek - Posted by: Mo Meronek (Wendee's old bud) on: Mar 15, 2018
