JEAN FRANCES BOURGOUIN (DAVIES)
Born: Oct 15, 1932
Date of Passing: Mar 02, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN FRANCES BOURGOUIN (nee DAVIES) October 15, 1932 - March 2, 2018 Jean Frances led her life with a skip in her step, beaming with positivity and an adventurous, open heart. Ever birdwatching, flower-identifying, berry picking, and baking, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, greeted life with a sparkly smile and a purse full of mints. Jean was the daughter of Fanny and Jim Davies, eldest of two, raised on her family farm in Rosewood, MB where her maternal grandparents, Flora and Charles Tapper (Reeve of Tache), operated the Rosewood General Store. Jean and her younger brother Ron walked two unplowed miles to attend school at the one-room Rosewood schoolhouse. Jean loved learning, especially reading, and was never bored as a child with all her companions - the horses, chickens, cats, dogs and cows on their farm. At age 17 she moved to the big city of Winnipeg where she worked at Eaton's in the mail order and shoe departments. On September 15, 1951 she married Charles Still, junior pharmacist at Still's Drugs in Transcona, and together they had four adventurous children, Jim, Chuck, Carol and Kenny. Jean was widowed by Charles at a young age. Left to raise her four children, she worked at Transcona Optical. In 1973 she married Leo Bourgouin and through marriage gained two stepchildren, Rene and Suzette. They lived between The Pas and their summer island cabin at Rainy Lake, Ontario from 1973 until 1983. Widowed a second time, Jean purchased her own cabin home at Albert Beach - her paradise - where she lived independently and resourcefully, growing a garden, hauling water in the spring, riding a bike for groceries, and hosting family and friends for many happy years. There was always a place for another at Jean's table and leftovers for the little red fox. Jean met the charismatic Roy Meisner at a dance, and they shared many lively years as companions following this. After losing Roy, Jean reunited with an old school friend, Ed Barham, and moved to Pinawa then later Inwood and finally Teulon. Jean's endless hugs, wink-and-smile playfulness, and overflowing love will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her. Jean is survived by her three children, Jim Still, Chuck Still (Kim) and Ken Still (Debbie), two stepchildren, Rene Bourgouin (Cheryl) and Suzette Bourgouin, her son-in-law, Cub Tavener, her younger brother Ron Davies (Brenda), her 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Still (Darren), Kevin Still (Lourdes), Brittany and Ashley Still, Michael and Matthew Tavener, Shannon Pardowski (David), Thunder Still, Lucas and Kyle Bourgouin, and five great-grandchildren, Abby, Ben, Rachel, Sharona and Nola. She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Fanny Davies, daughter Carol, and daughter-in-law Joan. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, Transcona on Wednesday, March 14 at 1:00 p.m.

To Jean's family, We were very saddened to hear about Jean's passing and we also offer our apologies for not attending the funeral this afternoon as we did not know until this evening. We have fond memories of her including her sending a present when our first daughter was born. She was a very resilient lady that had to deal with more hardship than seemed fair. We know you all have lots of great memories that will stay with you. Love, Bev and Brent - Posted by: Bev and Brent Reid (Cousin) on: Mar 14, 2018
