LEONA HELEN DEGRAAF (nee ZELLIS) January 10, 1931 - March 11, 2018 Peacefully, with family by her side, Helen passed away at Selkirk Regional Health Centre on March 11, 2018, at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward in September 2011, and is survived by her daughter Michelle Weimer, son-in-law Todd Weimer, and grandsons Trevor and Devon. Helen was born in Winnipeg and spent many of her early years in Selkirk before moving back to Winnipeg. She worked at Eaton's Polo Park in the jewellery department for several years where she made many good friends. Helen enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her favourite place, the cottage at Lester Beach. With failing health in 2016 she moved to Oakbank to be closer to her daughter and family. We would like to thank all of the staff at Springfield Place (supportive housing) where she lived for just over a year. All of the staff there are wonderful and she made many new friends there. The family would also like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre for the compassionate care they provided in her final days. Rest in peace now Mom, you are with Dad. A memorial service will take place on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My memories of Helen as a wonderful woman, a beautiful, soft spoken, strong person. I always felt safe around her, comforted. Helen and her husband Ed were great friends of my parents, Marion and Bill Eisler. When Helen and Ed would visit, they always brought smiles and laughter. My heartfelt condolences go out to Helen's family and friends. - Posted by: Diane Eisler (Daughter of Marion and Bill Eisler, Friends) on: Mar 13, 2018
