Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARILYN JEAN WEDLAKE On Sunday, March 11, 2018, at her home on Rupertsland Avenue, Marilyn slipped peacefully into the presence of her Lord, whom she loved and served with all her heart. Marilyn was born in Winnipeg, November 3, 1944 and attended West Kildonan Collegiate. She worked first as a secretary and then, as a paralegal for Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson. Later, she worked for the law offices of Scott Kennedy Law and with Martin Gutnick and then for the Royal Bank of Canada. In 2001 she began working full time in various capacities with Rev. Alan Duncalfe at Cross Church, Winnipeg. Marilyn was born into a Christian home, to a godly mother and godly grandparents. After some serious wrestling with God, Marilyn accepted the Lord as her Saviour and was baptized at 16 years of age. She immediately began to serve in her home church, Calvary Temple. Her pastor, H.H. Barber recognized Marilyn's leadership abilities and asked her to serve as director of the girl's camps of Calvary Temple Youth Camp, which she did from 1962 until the late 1990s. Pastor Barber asked Marilyn to give leadership to the Crusader program, a Christian leadership and discipleship program for girls. Over the years she has influenced thousands of girls to accept and follow Christ and to serve in their church. In recent years, Marilyn earned a Certificate in the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Course from Booth College and did chaplaincy work at Grace Hospital. She served on the board of Calvary Place Personal Care Home from its inception. Marilyn loved to advocate for the poor, disadvantaged and elderly. For the last 22 years, Marilyn has served in leadership at Cross Church in various capacities; on the building program committee, in Sunday school, women's ministries, seniors, small groups and for the last 15 years she led the community outreach program called Kid's Club. Her latest passion was the scholarship program she organized for impoverished students in Burundi. She will be mourned by Junior Hakizimana and Darlene Morisho, the children she supported through Villages of Hope Burundi. She was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Margaret Wedlake; grandparents, Thomas and Doris Heatley; and by her dearest friend Joan Lemky. She is survived by her extended family, Gordon, Daniel (Suzanne and Rebekah) and Jaclyn Lemky; Rev. Alan (Gloria, Jesse, Nicholas and Sarah) Duncalfe; Denny and Janet Chau; Carelyne (Jobe and Aaliyah) Masepela; Trish Hebert and many loving friends. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who desire may direct donations in her memory to either Calvary Temple Youth Camp or Cross Church's Kid's Club. Pallbearers will be, Denny Chau, Jesse Duncalfe, Nicholas Duncalfe, Gordon Lemky, Jobe Masepela, and John Penner. Funeral service will be held in the main sanctuary of Calvary Temple, 440 Hargrave St., at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 with interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, "Garden of the Old Rugged Cross." Reverends Alan Duncalfe, Bruce Martin and her beloved Pastor, H.H. Barber, officiating. Bardal Funeral Home 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca

Often I look back and remember my years in Canada and especially those people that have had the greatest impact on my deep faith for our loving Father and his Son. Those people who have challenged me the most to dig deeper, ask more questions, find the answers in Yahweh's wonderful loveletter. And it is then that I remember my time at Hope Corps and Weston Gospel Church (now Cross Church) and the classes, talks and advice of Marilyn. Her passion for the truth and her work has been contagious. Having made a personal faith based decision of going a path that I know has been widely misunderstood, it might be that the ocean ended up being to wide for the bond to a beloved spiritual family to remain strong, but I know of the hope Marylin has and she has taught me to hold on to. And with that hope that I firmly believe in, by the grace of our God Yahweh and through the ransom of Jesus Christ, I am looking forward to the day I will see her again. In this earthly life the bond to a very precious family might have broken. But there has been not a moment in the past 14 years since I met Marilyn that I forgot about her and the way she encouraged me to stay close to our Father and his Son. Please know, it has been three years since the last word but not even a day since the last thought and prayer. I am joyful to be certain of where you are. Thank you so much for all that you have taught me. - Posted by: Heike (Student) on: May 17, 2018

" Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself." She was the sweetest lady I had known. She was there for me. A big comfort after she founded out I loss my beloved Shane. She is now home with our Father and safe in the arms of Jesus. And till we meet again. - Posted by: Sharon Greenberg (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2018

Can’t be there to say goodbye with all those who gather to remember your life. But I will be there when my time comes and you and I will enjoy Jesus forever. As the Crusader program taught “the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him Forever”. - Posted by: Lynda Flett (Friend) on: Mar 15, 2018
