JAMES SEDUN January 25, 1930 - March 6, 2018 James Sedun passed away on March 6, 2018, surrounded by family at his residence at Inglewood Care Centre in West Vancouver. Jim was born in Russia and immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of six months. He lived the majority of his life in Winnipeg but moved to Vancouver, BC in 1998 to be close to his grandchildren. Jim was well respected in his career as a salesman, working many years with Ethicon Sutures and retiring from Bard Medical Products. The retirement function held in his honour revealed the degree to which he was respected and well-liked, not only as a hardworking salesman, but as a kind and loving human being. Being a natural athlete, he enjoyed swimming, golf and tennis and loved to watch professional sports on TV (hockey, football, baseball, golf and tennis). But his greatest pleasure, observed by all who knew him, was his love and devotion to his family, immediate and extended. He married Doreen Orr in 1955 with whom he had three children. He is survived by his children, Cynthia (Randy), Gregg (Alison), and Glenn (Yvonne), and his grandchildren, Carson, Rhiannon (Tobi), Kelsey and Trinity, his sister Lil, brother Len, sister-in-law Mary and his nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine and Steve, brothers, George, Chester, Orest and Victor, and niece Heather. A loving and sensitive man, he demonstrated his devotion to his family and friends by making it a priority to spend time with his siblings, his children and grandchildren, his nieces, nephews and their children. He expressed his love in beautiful letters, through generous gifts and with wonderful meals, like his famous burgers and shrimp appetizers. He maintained a healthy lifestyle and started every morning at his gym with a bike ride, swim and weights. It was only dementia that finally slowed him down, and finally a hip replacement that accelerated the disease. When he moved to a full-care facility, he socialized in the same friendly way with staff and residents alike and was known for his sweet ways. He will be missed in this world but we are calmed by the knowledge of the peace that he is now experiencing, a peace he so well deserves. A Celebration of Life will be held in his memory in Vancouver, the date and time to be announced. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mckenziefuneralservices.com
