GREIG ALEXANDER LYNCH On March 12, 2018, G.A. decided that his children and grandchildren were all in a good place so it was time to go see the love of his life Heather. He passed away of natural causes at Sterling House in Winnipeg at home where he wanted to be. His passions in life were his family, the Montreal Canadiens, music, reading and chit-chatting with as many people as possible in a day. Dad, we hope this dedication passes your scrutinizing eye, as you helped us edit all of our papers growing up. Greig's life started out in the neighbourhood of NDG in Montreal on October 19, 1945. He grew up playing sports, enjoying the pubs and living life to its fullest. The bonds he developed with his brothers in his formative years established his work ethic, family loyalty and thirst for knowledge for the rest of his life. His older brother John (who predeceased Greig in 2017) provided guidance and thoughtful advice. While his brother Terry was his best friend, they went on family vacations together, established sarcasm and grumpy remarks as the family humour trademark and chatted almost every day. In 1967 thanks to Air Canada, where he loved to work for over 42 years, he met Heather LaMonica and was so smitten by her he moved to Winnipeg and began their married life together in 1970. They established their roots in Winnipeg and were surrounded by Heather's parents Tony and Ethel and her brother Patrick. Greig was happy, because Heather was happy and to be surrounded by an extremely close group of family and friends which was so important to him. In 1974 they welcomed Monica to the world and she quickly became the apple of her father's eye. She inherited from him, his work ethic, attention to detail and love of family. Greig adored Monica and her husband Christian. His love ran even deeper for her children Kate, Sophie and Noah. His favourite moments were to skype with them, visit with them as much as possible and just to watch them grow up. In 1977 they then welcomed Kevin to their life, who was always a challenge. He inherited from him his stubbornness, love of sports, love of family and love of the Montreal Canadiens. The only way GA ever missed a day of work at Air Canada was to watch Kevin play baseball or hockey. He was proud of Kevin's accomplishments and overjoyed that Kevin met Emilie, whom he welcomed to the family with his teasing habits, which was his way of showing affection. Greig was sad not to have met his newest grandson Antoine, but his daily skype sessions with him "made his day." We are sure the staff at Sterling House will miss Mr. Chatty around the residence and we want to thank them for all the care they provided for him over the past year. All his nieces and nephews will miss his sage advice and sense of humour. Dad/Grandpa/Uncle Greig/Mr. L is with Mom/Grandma/Aunty Heather/Mrs. L now and we know they are happy together in the "twins in the sky". Kevin will miss his daily morning dog walk calls, Monica will miss the nightly post school calls and Terry will miss his weekly chats of getting not so gentle brotherly advice. A small family wake will be organized later this summer. "I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again."
