JOSEPH LAND Peacefully, on March 17, 2018, Joseph Land, of Sagkeeng First Nation, MB, passed away at the age of 83 years. Wake service is being held at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Hall, Sagkeeng First Nation, MB, from March 20 to 23, 2018. Funeral service will follow in the church on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with final viewing at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Joe was predeceased by his parents and siblings. He is survived by Taydi Bruyere and Gabriel Bruyere, numerous relatives and friends in Manitoba and Ontario. Joe was originally from Whitedog First Nation, ON, but has made Sagkeeng First Nation his home ever since he was in Residential School. During Residential School he was part of the musical group known as "The Troubadours." He was a well-known artist, carver, musician and all round perfectionist. He travelled to many communities in Manitoba and Ontario to play his guitar at wakes, funerals, jamborees and First Nation gatherings. Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My condolences for all his family and friends, Joe was a kind and gentle soul, he shared his gifts of music and many talents, we were all honored to know Joe, always gave a smile and would comfort you while times of bereavement. Go rest high on the mountain Joe, and thanks for being there for my family with all the times we've lost someone. You were truly one spiritual person.
