Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN SKIKIVICH July 12, 1926 - March 20, 2018 Peacefully on March 20, 2018, John Skikivich passed away at Bethesda Place, Steinbach, at the age of 91, with his friend Darlene Schmidtke - Turner at his side. John was predeceased by his parents Peter and Margaret, sisters Pauline and Mary, brothers Paul and Nick, his first wife Theresa (Sohacki), and second wife, Pauline Nimchuk (Fochak). John is survived by one sister Ann Ellchuk, numerous nieces and nephews, his very good friends and caregivers Dr. Chris and Darlene Turner and their family. John was born in Newdale, MB. Married Theresa on August 23, 1953. They resided in Transcona till 1982. After retirement they moved to Falcon Lake where John worked at the golf course for a few years with great pleasure. He also created many items out of wood to share with friends and relatives. John and Theresa were very instrumental in the building of their Church, Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints in Transcona. In 1996 John moved to Steinbach. John always loved his gardening and his lawn was meticulously kept. He enjoyed his cooking, canning and sharing that with friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St., Steinbach, MB, Thursday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. Private interment to follow at a later date. Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the caring staff at Bethesda Place where John resided for the last one and a half years.
