LAWRENCE (LORNE) ERNEST JOHNSON Lawrence (Lorne) Ernest Johnson passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Kildonan Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, just shy of his 91st birthday. Left to survive him are his three sons: Murray (Karyn) of Carlisle, ON, Keith (Lisa) of Kelowna, BC and Scott (Kris) of Winnipeg; his grandchildren Kylie (Taylor), Ryan (Melanie), Nathan, Melanie and Amanda (Mat); his many nieces and nephews; and many friends including Ness Beattie of Winnipeg. Lorne was predeceased by his wife Betty; his twin brother Doug; his brothers Stewart and Donald; and his sisters Joyce and Marjorie. Lorne was born in Winnipeg on April 21, 1927 and lived most of his life there except for short periods spent in Brandon, Thunder Bay and Edmonton as a result of work transfers with Nabisco, Firestone, General Tire and York Tire. He always migrated back to Winnipeg and spent many summers enjoying the beauty of his cherished cottage on Lake of Two Mountains in N.W. Ontario with his family. After he retired, he spent many years helping his sons in various ventures. He will be sadly missed as an animated storyteller, never afraid of romancing the truth. In keeping with Lorne's wishes, no formal service will be held, and he will be interred at Avonlea Cemetery near Domain, MB with his wife Betty. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada, or a charity of one's personal choice. Rest peacefully, Papa.
