Jean, Ken and I have known each other since 1973 when Ken and I moved into the city from Brandon. Jean and Wilf invited us out to their cottage at West Hawk Lake for a weekend. The evening of May 1, 1974 we drove out. We had a wonderful time and fell in love with the cottage and the Whiteshell. Ken and I spent many happy summers with Jean and Wilf at the cottage. One summer Jean and I made it our mission to find the seven orchids of the Whiteshell. We found the Calypso, the Ram's Head, the golden lady slipper, and the showy pink lady slipper. Although we didn't find all of them, we had a great time researching their locales (without the internet) and talking with the locals and the Conservation officers about where to find them. Our evenings were spent debating the latest political scandal usually having something to do with Richard Nixon and the war in Viet Nam. Jean was truly an enigma - a unique individual with a mind like a steel trap. We will miss Jean and her uniqueness. Our sincere condolences to Judy and Ray, Janice and Ray and Lawrence and Susan and family. May Jean Rest In Peace. She will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Ken and Pam Campbell (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2018
