MARY HARRISON (nee KAWALER) August 27, 1923 - April 11, 2018 With grateful hearts for a life well lived we announce the passing of our much loved beautiful mother. Left to cherish her memory are her family, daughters Daniele Cantafio (Joseph) and Patricia Labuick (Clifford), her beloved grandchildren Justin Labuick (Jennifer), Nicole Delahanty (Dave) and Jarret Labuick (Jennifer), her beautiful great-grandchildren Ethan, Brodie and Irish, brother John Kawaler, sister and best friend Elsie Baryluk (John), and many nieces and nephews that she was so fond of. Mary was predeceased by her husband Daniel, and recently her sister-in-law Sophia, as well as her parents John and Mary Kawaler, in-laws John and Ann Harrison, and extended family members. Mary was born in a village in the town Lviv in Western Ukraine in 1923. She came to Canada with her parents in 1929. They settled in Cook's Creek and a few years later they moved to Oak Bank where she met her much loved husband Daniel. In 1942 they got married and Mary moved to Dugald where Mary and Daniel farmed together for 17 years. In 1959, together with their two daughters they moved to Transcona, where she helped build their lifetime family home which she continued to enjoy until age 90. Mom was a lifetime member of St. Michael's Parish and the U.C.W.L. She was a wonderful cook and for many years enjoyed making perogies with her dear sister-in-law and friend Sophia. Her church, religion and strong faith gave her comfort and strength. Her independent character and devoted constant family support enabled her to remain in her home after Dad's passing. At that time Park Manor became her "home". With her warm smile, gentle nature and wonderful sense of humour she was a people person liking everyone and she in turn was treated with the same warmth. She appreciated the caring of the entire staff, nurses, care aides, and volunteers each and every one. We are grateful and would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Park Manor Care Home, in particular the second floor for treating Mom with the kindness and respect she deserved. We appreciated the warmth and compassion showed her with their care. We also thank the family and friends who took time from their busy lives to visit her, bringing love, hugs and cheer. She enjoyed their company and they left uplifted at spending time with a beautiful senior who "aged so gracefully". Mom left a message for us: "My life on earth is truly past - I've loved you all to the very last, Weep not for me but courage take, and Love one another for my sake". Mom, "It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone. Part of us went with you, the day God called you home." Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 400 Day Street in Transcona. Pallbearers will be Justin Labuick, Jarret Labuick, Dave Delahanty, David Kawaler, Aaron Balla and Alexander Hansen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to a charity of your choice. Vichnaya Pam'yat Bardal Funeral Home 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
