MONICA GAGNON In Loving Memory of Monica Gagnon (nee Cleaver), 77 years, who passed away, after a short but brave battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, ON. Beloved wife of the late Harley Gagnon (predeceased July 2011). Monica and Harley were married on May 4, 1963 and spent the early years of their marriage in Coniston and relocated to Winnipeg, MB in 1979, returning to Coniston in 1997. Loving mother of Andrea (predeceased April 1964), Charlene Plexman (Todd), Michael Gagnon (Lauren) of Cowichan Bay, British Columbia. Cherished grandmother of Marina, Julia, Aaron and Marc. She was a loving mother and friend who was a true role model for her children and grandchildren. Born in Sudbury she was the daughter of the late Nellie and John (Lefty) Cleaver. Dear sister of Jerry (Lynn) both predeceased, Bob (predeceased), Rodney (Deborah) and Joe (Millie). Sadly missed by sisters-in-law Shirley Barbe and Arlene Belamy (Ken), and many nieces and nephews. Monica enjoyed giving back to her community as demonstrated through her involvement in numerous volunteer organizations such as Brownies, Figure Skating, Optimists Club in Winnipeg, CWL, Lions Club and Seniors Club of Coniston. She had many friends throughout her journey in the communities of Coniston, Winnipeg and Mesa. Monica enjoyed time with her family especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She had a positive attitude and always loved a good joke and entertaining people with her stories and quick wit. Well known for her baking abilities, she often provided friends and family with their favourite treats. Monica was crafty and wasn't afraid to try something new. After Harley passed away in July of 2011, Monica moved into the Pavillion apartment complex in Coniston where she was known for her organizational skills in arranging get-togethers in the common room. She loved a cool swim in the lake and a warm campfire. Monica and Harley enjoyed their warm winters in Mesa, Arizona for many years. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 38 Cedar Street, Coniston on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Family will welcome friends following the Mass at the Colonial Inn, 28 Cedar Street, Coniston. The family would like to sincerely thank the amazing staff on 4 South at Health Sciences North for their compassion and care. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made directly to the MS Society (Sudbury Chapter) or Maison McCulloch Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Ranger's Cremation and Burial Services Ltd.
