JOHANN HEINRICH (HEINZ) UMBACH July 11, 1926 - April 15, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Johann Heinrich (Heinz) Umbach on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the age of 91 in Winnipeg. Beloved husband of Elvira (nee Raschke) for 62 years, who passed away nine days later. Loving papa of Werner (Margaret), Esther and Elke (Brian). Dearest Opa of Luther, Matthew and Robyn. Heinz was born in Felsberg, Germany on July 11, 1926. He was the eldest of six children and leaves behind four siblings - Hans, Elfriede, Horst, Ilse, and countless nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his younger brother Paul. Heinz retired from St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 65, where he worked for almost 35 years. He was a member of the Mountain Andrews Seventh-Day Adventist Church and died in Christ. We look forward to the great resurrection when we will, once again, be reunited. Special thanks to his neighbours and friends at Kildonan Green Apartments for making his last five years of life truly golden. As per his request, there will be no viewing. Heinz has been cremated and his final resting place will be Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Red Deer County, AB. A celebration of his life will be held in Winnipeg in May. Details to follow.
