KAROLINE ZABORNIAK (ROZMUS)
Date of Passing: Apr 25, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKAROLINE ZABORNIAK (nee ROZMUS) With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved grandmother, Caroline at the age of 102, on April 25, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents, Jan and Anna Rozmus; brothers, Frank and Andrew, husband Andrew, and daughter Shirley Zayac. Left to cherish her memory are grandsons, Kim (Sharon) Zayac, Shawn (Shirley) Zayac; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Ashley; son-in-law David (Barbara) Zayac, as well as many nieces and nephews, who called her Auntie Carrie. Baba was born in Melrose, Manitoba. She married Andrew Zaborniak in 1941 and together they farmed in the area around Highland Glen and Tyndall. Their precious daughter Shirley was born in 1943 and they decided to move to Transcona for her schooling, but they continued to enjoy planting gardens both at their house and in the country. Baba always made sure that family gatherings included her home-made cabbage rolls and perogies. After retirement she and Jajo took several bus tours around Canada and USA. As a widow, Granny moved to Columbus Villa where she developed many close friendships, especially around the jigsaw puzzle. Somehow she always knew how to make us smile and we will forever love her. Our sincere gratitude to all the wonderful staff at Holy Family Home, some of whom spoke to Granny in her native Polish. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Home or a charity of your choice.

I am so sorry hear of Carrie's passing , we were neighbours for over 20 years and Carrie would try to teach me what plants would look good in my pots and garden and when I wouldn't listen to her advice and they didn't grow she would just say "I told You so" and then the next year she would ask if I was going listen to her this time? Eventually I did listen. We had great talks and always loved her sharp wit. Carrie is finally with Andy she missed him very much. I will always cherish our times together, she was a very special lady. - Posted by: May Trager (friend) on: Apr 30, 2018
