MARY BIRSTON (nee PEEBLES) Mom was born December 6, 1919 in Selkirk, MB. She spent the majority of her life in the Lockport - Selkirk area. She was one of seven children born to James and Maria. She married Hilliard in 1938. He was killed on June 6, 1944 in France, during the Second World War, which left her to raise her children on her own. Mary is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews. She was introduced to the Bible truths when someone came to her door. She was baptised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1957. The many blessings of the promised earthly paradise (Ps 37:29) brought much joy to her. The greatest love and hope for her was the promise of the resurrection found in John 5:28 and 5:29 which brought much pleasure as she looked forward to seeing her husband, her family and friends again. We look forward to seeing her again when she is resurrected. Mary loved travelling, spending time with her family and friends, as well as music, playing the guitar and even yodelling when she was in her 98th year! She will be missed by numerous family, extended family members and loyal friends. Special thanks to the Selkirk Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses who so lovingly remembered her as the years went by while she was at the Tudor Home, and to Hilary and Doris who could often get her going when no one else could. Also thanks to the staff at the Tudor Home who cared tirelessly for her needs. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 12 Hawthorne Place (off Calder Road), St. Andrews, MB.
