MARILYN (KOENIGBAUR) BARTECKI STEVE BARTECKI With sadness, Marilyn passed away March 10, 2017 and Steve April 1, 2017, in Nanaimo, BC. Marilyn is survived by her brother Fred and family, and sister Kathy Barr and family. She was predeceased by her dad Fred and mother Mary Koenigbaur. Steve is survived by sisters, Vicki Dumas and family, Dianne Michaluk and family and Elaine St. Mars and family. Predeceased by his mother Mary, father Stanley, sister Eva, and brother Eddie. They both were born and raised in Winnipeg and after they married they ventured to Terrace, BC for a number of years. They then moved to Revelstoke, BC where Steve decided to try his hand at owning a OK Tire. Then it was back to Winnipeg for a number of years where Steve got into building houses and working as an electrical contractor and Marilyn for the Royal Bank. Winters were not what Steve wanted and back to British Columbia they went and settled in Nanaimo. They spent the rest of their lives there. Steve always with a new building project and Marilyn at the bank where she made many friends. They enjoyed fishing and Steve loved hunting and filling the freezer with venison and moose and elk meat (much to my dismay when I visited). Every year they were back to Winnipeg to visit, fishing with friends for pickerel and to enjoy the much loved garlic sausage, rye bread and of course Elmans mustard! To honour and celebrate their life we are having a graveside interment at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue on Friday, May 11, 2018. We will have a light lunch at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home and interment at 2:00 p.m. and return to finish lunch after. We encourage anyone attending to say a few words or share a memory of Marilyn and Steve and their lives we are celebrating. Cheers Marilyn and Steve, you are gone but in our hearts, missed and loved.
