WAYNE KILLBERY It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wayne Killbery, aged 82 years of Teulon, Manitoba, on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Stonewall Hospital. Wayne was born in Souris, Manitoba on September 8, 1935 and later moved to Winnipeg with his parents. In 1952 Wayne took the moonlight train to the boardwalk at Grand Beach and met the love of his life, Ann Sinnock. They married in 1953 and raised four children in St. James where Wayne worked for his dad at Killbery Industries. He started his dream of raising pure bred Charlois in Hodgson with the Truthwaite brothers. Then in 1968, he moved his family to a farm he bought from Ben Brocker just west of Teulon. Dad owned two sections of land and soon learned to mix breed his Charlois with Hereford. Dad was very proud of his farm and it was obvious as his corrals and fences were top notch, the yard always maintained beautifully and the barn roof kept in great shape to this day. After Dad sold his cattle he continued to rent the pastures to Owen and Jared McDonnell, always looking forward to seeing the cows come back and have a visit with the boys. He enjoyed his yard and spent many hours on the lawn mower. He said 'you do the flowers, Mum and I'll do the grass'. He enjoyed the wildlife that went through the yard and fed them all. Dad had hours of pleasure watching them at the buggy feeder through the picture window. After the cattle were sold, Wayne worked at Imperial Steel then MacDon Industries until his retirement in 2000. Dad loved to play hockey for the Teulon Tigers Seniors and Old Timers teams. Dad put in many volunteer hours working at the new Teulon Arena alongside Merv Campbell and Martin Brocker. Wayne's passion for hunting has been passed on to his sons and grandsons. Many of his companions will testify to being stuck more than hunting, but the fun and the love of the chase was worth the time standing still. His love of fishing took him to Granite Lake where he enjoyed many summers with family and friends. If there was a trout to be caught at the lake, Dad would reel it in. He leaves to mourn his wife of 65 years, Ann; four children, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren: Wendy (Neil), John, Neil (Kayla), Kara, Kayln. Russ (Marie), Meghan (Jared), Makenna, Dekker, Zaylee; Garth (Becky), Kieran, Kellan, Freya. Tom (Carol); Jill (Kevin), Whitney; Wes (J'aime), Easton, Tamsen. Traci (Rick); Andrew (Stacey); Cory, Izaac, Jaxon; Tess (Ryan). Scott Eros; Desiree and Dominic Griffin; Hudson and Harper Eros. Wayne's sisters, Lynn and Sharon, sisters-in-law, Kathy, Maisie and Eileen, and brother-in-law Jim Debrecen. Many nieces, nephews, friends and special longtime friend Ed Waluk. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Alice, sister Gail, brother Barry, sisters-in-law, June and Rose, brothers-in-law, Bob, Jack, George, Ted, Jack and Tom. Dad loved his country music and as kids we enjoyed watching him twirl Mum on the dance floor to their favourite tunes. Even though Dad has left us 'on the wings of a snow white dove' we sincerely wish to express our thanks to the angels of the Palliative Care team led by Dr. Graham. We are extremely grateful that Dr. Graham did his very best to keep Wayne as comfortable as possible during his fight with cancer. Our thanks to Patty for her special touch with Dad. Dad became famous for his handshake in the hospital because he had a grip of steel. A big thank you to the Stonewall Hospital staff for their compassionate care. In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. A family Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wayne's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to The Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, 589 3rd Ave. S., Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0. You are taking a lot of love with you, Dad. Let it wrap around and lull you into the peaceful sleep that you so deserve. Family Forever
