JEANNETTE YOUNG (nee GRANGER) After a strong fight against cancer, Jeannette Marie Young, aged 82, passed away peacefully, at home, on May 12, 2018. Jeannette lived a full, happy life. She loved unconditionally, laughed often and showed the people in her life compassion and forgiveness. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. She was the one you went to for encouragement when no one else believed in you, she was the one you spoke to when no one else would listen, she was the one who cared for you and never gave up on you, no matter what. She always put her family first. Even while struggling with cancer, she was always concerned about the well-being of those around her. She also remained positive and stayed true to herself for as long as she was able. Staying true to herself meant teasing everyone and doing her best to keep their spirits up because, "I'm a nice person, yenno". Near the end, many people made it a priority to get their time in with her because time with her was time well spent. She was, and always will be loved by many. It was Jeannette's wishes to forgo a service because she wanted people remember her as she was. In lieu of flowers, people may express their condolences by donating to the Southern Health Regional Office in Southport: 180 Centennaire Drive, Southport, MB R0H 1N1. Cheques can be made payable to Southern Health with Palliative Care Program in the memo line. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I'm sorry to hear of Auntie Jeanette's passing. I really wish we all could have stayed closer together and not let those summer vacations get farther and farther apart. I loved summer stays in Winnipeg to see Gramma and stay at my cousin "Tracey & Kim's". Uncle Bud & Auntie Jeanette always made us feel right at home even if it didn't seem like I wanted to be there clinging to my dad's leg crying and begging not to leave to be babysat my cousins. I have some of my most treasured memories from that house. Auntie Jeanette always let me play with the smaller than Barbie dolls Kim & Tracey had when they were not home with so many clothes to dress them in! Uncle bud always let me play the violin. I love all you guys very much. Kim & Tracy I still have your grad pictures in my album I used to show all my friends "my gorgeous cousins who looked like models". I miss you all and the times we had. I love you Auntie Jeanette, I'll never forget any of the moments I spent with you. Xoxo. Love always, Misty Young - Posted by: Misty Young (Niece) on: Jan 17, 2019

  • To Jeanette's family. My mom Betty Marshall lived in the Delta Manor on Adamar and met your mom and they built up a friendship . Myself and my sisters met your mom and new her only briefly but she was a very nice lady and fun! She was very good to us at the time of our mom's passing and also came to mom's funeral. It is so sad to lose our Mom's but your Mom was suffering and it is relief for her to be at peace now. I am Barbara. It is with sadness that I hear of your loss. Condolences to all of you. She will be missed. - Posted by: Barbara Tanner (Mom lived in same block as Jeanette ) on: Aug 07, 2018

  • To all of Jeanette's family, Deepest sympathies to all of you. She was an awesome lady. We had great lunches with some of your old neighbours, sad to see some of them leaving us too soon. From all my family Beverley Bettens. - Posted by: Beverley Bettens (Friend) on: Jun 03, 2018
