JOHN ERSKINE GUTHRIE September 25, 1926 - May 7, 2018 Mr. John E. Guthrie, formerly of Pinawa, Manitoba, died quietly and peacefully in the early hours on May 7, 2018 at High River, Alberta. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I am listening to a church service online and I hear my favourite hymn "How Great Thou Art". I will always remember him singing How Great Thou Art at the Deep River Community Church on his last Sunday there. He had such a powerful voice and the church just rang. I always remember Mr. Guthrie when I hear this hymn. - Posted by: Nancy McWatters (Connelly) (A Former Deep River resident) on: Sep 24, 2023

  • John was a close friend, and he always gave much more than he received. He gave superb lectures to my Insect Ecology Class at the University of Manitoba over a number of years. He attended the Christian Professors Bible Study group with me, and always had very positive contributions. John and his Atomic Energy superior, Dr. John Weeks, visited the Department of Entomology after John received his degree, and their visits were very much enjoyed by staff and students. My very sincere condolences to the family. Reiny Brust. - Posted by: Reiny Brust (Friend and mentor on John's Ph.D. program) on: Jan 04, 2019
