ALVIN WESLEY HOLTZMAN It is with profound sadness, the family announces the passing of "Al" Holtzman. Al was born on the family farm at Kelstern, SK, November 26, 1929, son of Ellen and Wesley Holtzman. He completed his high school in Hodgeville, SK before pursuing a career with TD Bank which spanned 44 years. Al's first move in 1948 was to Transcona, where he met and married Lillian McMullen on February 2, 1952. They moved to Birch River, Cartwright, Kipling, Glenavon and Lafleche before coming back to Transcona in 1969. Al's interests were centred around sports of all types: hockey, baseball, curling, football and rodeo. He played junior baseball in Transcona and coached Little League in Lafleche. After retirement, he curled at Transcona Curling Club and played slow pitch with the Charleswood Eagles. Al will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father and friend, supporting his children in every aspect of their lives. Al and Lil enjoyed a long retirement with 10 winters spent in Rockport, TX, various cruises and travelling cost to coast in Canada. Many summers were spent at their summer home on Lake Manitoba at St. Laurent. Al was predeceased by his loving wife, Lillian. He is survived by son Brent (Darcia), daughter Brenda Frisk (Eric), brother Milton (JoAnne), sister-in-law Gerry Johnston and good friend Frances Honke. The family would like to thank all of the home care workers as well as Park Manor staff for their tireless efforts in assisting our father for the last months of his life. Cremation has taken place and a family time of remembrance will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society would be appreciated. The Golden Thread that binds the love in our family cannot be broken by miles, by years, or by death.

  • The McMullen family were friends of myself and my parents. Al also played slow pitch against my husband. Al was a kind and caring person. May he Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Joyce Nykoluk (Long time friend) on: Jun 03, 2018
