ROBERT MAYNARD Peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018 Robert went home to be with his Lord Jesus at age 58 after a short battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory and will be greatly missed by his wife of thirteen years, Ilona; brothers-in-law, Alfred, Eric, Klaus, Herbert and Walter (Doris) and family: Rhea, Danielle and Emma and Kolton. He also leaves his father John Maynard and brothers, Johnny and Bert. He was predeceased by his mother Mary. Rob was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario and grew up in Scarborough. He moved to Winnipeg at a young age. His great passion was helping people and he had a heart for seniors. He drove for Vital Transit Services for fourteen years; he was well-loved by the seniors on his bus. He loved the Lord Jesus, reading his bible and praying for others. He took a course in automotives and loved fixing cars and radios, among other things. He had a gentle spirit and big heart. He enjoyed travelling and taking road trips with Ilona, loved animals, had a strong work ethic and good moral values and was a good provider. He was a committed, loving husband and loyal friend. He enjoyed spending summers at the cottage with family, being around nature in the Whiteshell and gardening. He had a quirky sense of humour and many will miss his wonderful, warm smile and hearty laugh. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:30 am at Calvary Temple, 440 Hargrave Street. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. Viewing will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to organizations helping Israel.

  • Robert and I lived together in an apartment on Scotia Street in the North End in 1990. He was "new in the Lord" then, and so eager to know Jesus and to love and serve Him. Robert was all questions! I hope I helped, & guess I did no damage. We who knew Rob were impressed by his growth through the years, from early frustrations, to really doing something valuable with his life & loving what he did. We kinda lost touch after around 2001, and now I wish we hadn't. Anyway, love you Rob, say hi to the Saviour for me, and see you up there someday! - Posted by: Christopher Jones (Old friend) on: Jul 26, 2018

  • We knew Robert, as he was our driver for Vital Transit when shopping at Safeway. He was such a nice person. Always had a smile and "Hello" for everyone. He helped everyone with their groceries and watched to make sure they got in okay. Robert will be greatly missed by those who met him. Our condolences go out to the family.
