WILSON It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ken Wilson, aged 81, on May 21, 2018 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, with family by his side. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1936, Ken immigrated to Canada in 1961, arriving in Winnipeg. A valuable member of the Winnipeg Sports Car Club - in 1973 the club built the Gimli Motorsport Park. We spent every weekend at the track where Dad was the clerk of the course. A draftsmen by trade, Dad started his career at Grinnel Fire Protection. After Winnipeg Dad finished the last 35 years of his life in Thunder Bay. Ken was a man of many talents, but most notably was a piper with the Thunder Bay Police Pipes and Drums. He was an active Mason, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 5 colour party, and a avid vintage car enthusiast, participating in many rallies with his restored 1973 BMW 2002. Ken is survived by his wife Beverly vanTeeffelen: sons, Alistair (Shayna), Bruce (Vicky), and his grandchildren, Duke and Lenny. He was predeceased by his parents, and daughter Anne (Rick). Service was held on May 25 in Thunder Bay at Legion #5, with interment at Sunset Memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shiners Hospital for Children in Ken's memory would be appreciated.
