Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAM ROITMAN April 13, 1927 May 9, 2018 Sadly, we announce the passing of Sam Roitman, on May 9, 2018, beloved husband of the late Estelle (Boomy) Roitman, loving father of Debby (Martin) Bricker, Lesley (Laurie) Goldberg, Harriet (Martin) Glazer; and devoted grandfather to David, Ivy, Rachel, Mikaela, Matthew, Ryan and Tali. Sam was predeceased by his wife Boomy; parents, Rachel and David Roitman; brother Chuck (Faye); sisters, Bella Antel and Simmy Stoller (Abe); sisters-in-law, Thelma Perlmutter (Chinny), Betty Baizer (Ed) and Shirley Abramson; and nieces, Sheila Perlmutter and Shelley Antel. He is survived by his brother-in-law Oscar Antel, and many dear nieces and nephews. Sam was born in Winnipeg and grew up and attended schools in the north end of Winnipeg. Throughout his youth, he was a member of the "Canucks" group, and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Sam met Boomy in December 1952 and they were married in February 1954. Sam led an active life and enjoyed current events, bridge, crossword puzzles, fitness and "all things" sports. Most important to him were his family and friends. You could not find a more loyal friend or devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a person of high integrity and honour, and was compassionate, caring and loving. The last three years of his life, he was a resident at the Simkin Centre. We would like to thank the staff at the Simkin Centre for their wonderful care, love and support. A special thank you to his companions, Marte, Paulina and Nila. Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Martin Glazer, David Bricker, Ryan Glazer, Arie Perlmutter, Abram Silver and Adam Myers. Honorary pallbearers were Laurie Goldberg and Martin Bricker. Those wishing to do so may make a donation to the Simkin Centre or charity of your choice.
