CAROLE HORNE 1934 - 2018 Carole died on June 2, 2018 at Beacon Hill Lodge where she had been a resident since January, 2017. Carole was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Jean and her brother Hamish. Carole lived her entire life in West Kildonan. She graduated from St. John's High School and received her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Winnipeg. She taught the English subjects at I.L. Peretz Folk School where she developed strong links with the Jewish community. She was an active member of Kildonan United Church. Carole had a passion for cairn terriers especially Meagan, Fiona and Kirsty. Carole will be lovingly remembered by many cousins including David Horne, Elizabeth Schirmer, Jennifer Kaisaris, Margaret Tidswell, Carol Rowbotham, Romey Seaton, Bettine Innes and Ian Laing. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride Ave. at 1:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place and Carole will be laid to rest beside her brother Hamish in Kildonan Presbyterian Cemetery. Carole participated in many activities at the Gwen Sector Centre and liked playing mahjong. Miss Horne was my grade 3 teacher at Peretz School in 1960. I remember her fondly from those days. Then in 2002 she was on my committee for the 90th Alumni Peretz School Reunion. I would refer to her as Miss Horne and she would always say “call me Carole”. I finally did start calling her Carole. My condolences to her family.
