Gerry was predeceased by his father and mother, Harvey and Bea Kendall; his sister Carol (Meyers); and his first wife Joan. Born in Winnipeg on July 10, 1935, Gerry grew up in St. Vital where he attended Windsor School and Glenlawn Collegiate. He played many sports, but excelled at baseball as a four time junior all star for Norwood. In 1957 Gerry celebrated two milestones; marrying his high school sweetheart, Joan, and graduating from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Throughout his very successful career, Gerry worked both in the U.S.A. and Canada and in 1982, served as Vice-President of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. When he retired in 1993, he was the Sr. Vice President of Dominion Construction. It was a deep faith in God that grounded his life. He became an integral part of the church community, building many lifelong relationships and taking part in church leadership. Gerry found love again and married Rosslyn in 1999. They shared a deep faith in Christ, had many common interests and enjoyed a blessed life until his passing. Gerry had a keen interest in politics and was always up for a good debate. He also had a fondness for all the Detroit teams, especially the Tigers and an ongoing passion for the Jets. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed time with his golf buddies. The family would like to thank the emergency staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and compassionate care particularly Dr. Al Buchel. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 549 Gertrude Avenue, Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Youth for Christ or charity of choice. • We were shocked and saddened to hear of Gerry's passing. Gerry was a tough respected competitor in minor baseball through our junior years. Then a good friend in Sigma Lambda Phi fraternity while at U of M. Becoming a dear friend of Gerry's sister Carol we would share family time with Gerry and his family at his lake home or on his visits with Carol in Minneapolis. We respected Gerry as a strong, ethical, devoted family gentleman. Affectionately known as "Boomer" he had a competitive gene common to the Kendall family. Gerry was a fine person. Our sympathy and condolences to Roslyn and all of Gerry's family. - Posted by: John & Charlotte Rendall (Friend) on: Jun 12, 2018
