DANNIE BAIN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dannie Bain on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the age of 63. Dannie was a lifelong Winnipegger who was employed by the City of Winnipeg for 35 years until his retirement in 2009. Dannie loved to tinker in his garden and enjoyed starting tomato plants under grow lights getting them ready to plant when the weather warmed up. He enjoyed taking cruises and loved spending summers at Brereton Lake where he could be found wandering the campground and enjoying camp fires with friends and family. Dannie leaves to mourn his wife Pat and stepdaughter Heather (Georges). He also leaves to mourn his special Aunt Ellen Redding from Abbotsford, BC and numerous other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Dave and Karin Bain and his sister Sandra Cahoon. Dannie was not much of a talker but he enjoyed sitting back and listening at family gatherings. He will be missed! A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at E. J. Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street. With Pat's support, Dannie courageously fought a battle with diabetes for 50 years. Donations in Dannie's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Dannie is a part of all of us who grew up together on Hazeldell Avenue. All our hanging out on the steps of someone's house deciding what to do with ourselves. So we'd tell jokes, play skin the cat, stretch, nicki nicki nine doors and hide and seek. We'd raid our own crab apple trees and gardens and it was still exciting. For me being the youngest to be accepted into this fun bunch of older kids I felt so fortunate and secure. The one thing about Dannie back then was he was so cute. I thought he was so kind to say hello to me when he walked home from school while I played in the front yard. Hmm special. Got to love him for that. I am sorry that he has passed on. My condolences to his family that truly loved him. From me, Jill and the entire McWhinney family. - Posted by: jill palmer nee mcwhinney (childhood friends on hazeldell) on: Jun 30, 2018

I am sorry to hear of Dannie’s passing, Pat. I was fortunate to have worked with him for so long and I appreciated his determination to make sure the parks looked tip-top ... and you soon learned his way was the way it was going to be done! I always enjoyed hearing about the time you spent at the campground and hopefully those memories help during this time. Sincerely, Jason. - Posted by: Jason Bell (Co-worker) on: Jun 30, 2018
