AGNES MOROZ Peacefully, Agnes Moroz passed away on June 17, 2018 at the age of 97. Agnes leaves to forever cherish her memory daughters, Joyce Moroz (Douglas Barry), Trisha Joan Moroz-Barstead (Brian Barstead) and Karen McDougall (George). Holding her close to their hearts are grandchildren, Warren Barstead, Damien Barstead (Aerin), Christina Barry and Jeffrey Barry (Sophie), and precious great-grandchildren, Faeven Barstead, Koah Barstead, Jett Sawatzky and Estelle Barry. She is survived by loving sisters, Helen Hackie, Jeanne Petals, Stella Hardie and Rose Maskiw, brother Louis Niziol and their families, as well as the families of her late siblings, John Niziol, Francis Tallaire, Mary Bryckar and Stanley Nizol. Two sisters died in childhood. In March, 2017, Agnes was predeceased by her beloved husband, best friend and companion of nearly 70 years, Michael (Mickey). Agnes was born in St. Norbert on February 16, 1921 to market gardeners, Andrew and Josephine (Chaykowski) Niziol, whose families settled the area in the 1890s. She worked hard on the family farm, but spent a happy childhood growing up with a love of family, outdoor adventure and animals, especially horses. She moved to Winnipeg to work, and in 1947 married a handsome returning soldier she met at a wedding. Joyful times were spent at Big Whiteshell Lake. Agnes and Mickey loved fishing, berry picking, swimming, games of horseshoes, and being surrounded by family. A talented cook, Agnes hosted many special family gatherings. (Notable were her dainty cabbage rolls and tender perogies.) They took pleasure in cottage life well into their 80s. Agnes was devoted to her husband and family and her greatest joy was spending time with them. She was a warm, caring and supportive parent, and an infatuated grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived her life with a heart full of kindness, always thinking of others. Agnes will be lovingly remembered as a quiet, gentle, modest person, full of grace and dignity and an inspiration to her family. Mom, we will always remember you in the breeze at the lake and wish you were here. We love you with all our hearts and will miss you more than words can say. The family thanks the caring staff at The Rosewood where she resided this past year. In keeping with Agnes' wishes, there is no funeral service. Agnes and Michael are laid to rest together at Glen Eden Cemetery.
