DOROTHY BEATRICE JOHNSON (nee THORSTEINSON) October 7, 1929 June 30, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Grandma and Amma, on June 30, 2018, at the Lakeshore General Hospital, in Ashern, MB, with family by her side. Mom was born, raised and lived her entire life in Lundar, MB. She also attended school in Lundar as well. Grandpa volunteered Mom to go to Stoney Hill School in order to keep it open because they were one child short. Mom often talked about the Stoney Hill School. Mom worked hard raising four children as Dad was away working. She loved being a member of the Royal Purple and also served as an Honoured Royal Lady. Mom also worked at the community bingo and the legion meat draws for years. She enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels around town with Dad and spending time with her friends at the Lundar Senior's Home. Mom was a very tough little lady. She never complained, even when she was in the hospital always saying "I'm fine", when the staff at the hospital or one of us would see that she was in discomfort. Mom fought very hard at the hospital to stay with us, where we were able to have a few great visits with her. She amazed all of us, including staff, with how strong her will was to be able to enjoy her final days with all of us with love, laughter and music. She leaves to mourn her daughter Heather (Art) Cramp; sons, Gifford (Marilyn) and Virgil (Cathy) of Lundar; grandchildren, Lynne (Mike) Tritthart, Vennessa (Randy) Kehler, Tom (Terri) Cramp, Kelsey-Jean (Dave) Cocklin, Keifer (Mikayla) Johnson; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kay Johnson and Elevia Johnson and family; along with cousins, Dennis (Yvonne) Johnson and Bud Lindal, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Arnold, of 52 years, in 2006; parents, Steini and Svava; sisters, Ethel (Dori), Virginia (Albert); brother Tom; and also son Wyatt. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Lundar Legion Hall, with Cindy Thorkelson officiating. A luncheon will follow with an interment to be held in the Lundar Municipal Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Keifer Johnson, Tommy Cramp, Damon Tritthart, Floyd Hayward, Neil Thorkelson and Kelly Eirikson. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, her physician Dr. Burnett, Brent and staff of the Lundar Pharmacy for their help and service over the years, along with the home care workers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Grettir Co-op Inc., P.O. Box 334, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0 or to a charity of one's choice.
